Review
MusicBee is a free and elegant program useful to organize, catalogue and manage a music collection. It supports a wide number of audio formats, 32 in total, including the most popular ones. Among its functionalities, the application incorporates a series of tools that add points in its favor, such as a CD ripper, an efficient instant search, and automatic download and update of metadata for music files, which includes album covers, artwork, and lyrics.
When launched, it performs a complete scan for media files in our computer and USB devices, and offers the possibility to organize them according to our preferences. In addition, it also includes a Last.Fm scrobbler, for those who want to keep their music profile updated.
The program interface looks quite sophisticated, elegant, and it’s very intuitive. Moreover, it is highly customizable, allowing us to configure many of its features; from its appearance to the file extensions associated to it.
The application is free for personal use, and can be downloaded from the developers’ site. Still in Beta version, the program is unstable and presents a series of problems that hopefully in following versions will be fixed.
Latest version of MusicBee is 0.3, but the present review and screenshots apply to version 0.2. |
